The Beginning
Continuing Bonds began with a single journal.
After a memorial service, a small collection of flowers was gathered —
the same flowers that had surrounded a life remembered and honored.
Rather than letting them fade,
they were preserved in a different way.
Page by page,
a journal began to take shape.
The Idea of Continuing Bonds
Grief does not ask us to forget those we love.
It asks us to find new ways to carry them with us.
Psychologists refer to this as a continuing bond —
the understanding that relationships do not end with loss,
but instead change form.
A journal created from the fragments of a loved one’s life
becomes a vessel for that connection.
The Work Today
Each Continuing Bonds journal is created by hand—beginning with the paper itself.
Cotton fibers are carefully formed into individual sheets, allowing meaningful fragments—flowers, letters, fabrics, and other personal elements—to be incorporated directly into the pages.
For those who choose, a small portion of cremains can also be respectfully included, becoming part of the paper in a quiet and lasting way.
The finished pages are then bound into a journal that holds memory, reflection, and connection.
No two journals are ever the same - each one shaped by the story it holds.
The Hope
The hope behind Continuing Bonds is simple.
That love does not fade with time.
That memories deserve a place to live.
And that sometimes
the smallest fragments
hold the deepest meaning.
When you’re ready, we’re here to begin with you.
